The Worst Traffic In The Country? Yep, It’s LA

When it comes to traffic, Los Angeles takes the cake as the city with the worst traffic in the country. Actually, the results are far worse. Especially when you compare them to the rest of the world.

There are some streaks that are beyond comparison. Impressive feats that cause us all to sit back and marvel at the accomplishments. The Yankees winning 4 out of 5 World Series from ’96 to 2000. Tom Brady’s 5 Super Bowl rings. The list goes on.

And then, in the case of Los Angeles, there are streaks you don’t want to be a part of. For the 7th year in a row, Los Angeles ranked as the city with the worst traffic in the country as well as the world.

In a survey of 1,360 other cities in 38 countries, Los Angeles emerged as the worst city for traffic congestion. The United States was well-represented on the list. New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Miami all made the top 10.

“Congestion is an enormous problem and an enormous cost.” The new report “puts some real numbers to the size of that cost.” – Graham Cookson, chief economist of INRIX which conducted the survey.

Despite pouring billions of dollars into public transit systems (which may be one of the reasons why so many California towns are short on cash), L.A. traffic has reached almost mythical levels of absurdity.

There are many things to put on your list when choosing where to live. In a city like Los Angeles, traffic may well be high on that list. For everything else on that list, there’s City vs City.
