While silicon valley in California gets all the press, three of Colorado’s best cities are topping the technology charts. Attracting some of the best and brightest from across the country and around the world: Colorado seems poised to create its own silicon valley in the Rocky Mountain state.
Move over California, Colorado is on its way to technology super-stardom. According to an article published recently in Bloomberg, three Colorado cities are on the fast track.
Colorado’s Best Cities for Technology
Boulder, Denver, and Fort Collins rank 1st, 4th, and 10th on Bloomberg’s Brain Concentration Index which tracks business formation as well as employment and education in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics.
The data suggests that a tech boom is beginning to take form in the state of Colorado with three major cities leading the way.
The data also shows the middle of the country, and a few more rural areas lagging behind their metropolitan counterparts. Muskegon, MI, Buckley, West Virginia, and Altoona, Pennsylvania are on the bottom end of the list.
These areas are seeing degree holding workers departing along with the businesses that employee them. Many of them are heading west to Colorado’s best cities (and others on the list).

The boom isn’t happening statewide, however. Elsewhere in the state isn’t fairing as well. Tax credit initiatives in nearby Grand Junction are aiming to help bring white color jobs to the area.
