All work and no play makes us all a little on edge. Sometimes it’s best to kick back, relax, and take a load off. And where do we head for that? To Orlando, of course. Recently named the best city for recreation in the USA!
According to a recent Wallethub ranking, Orlando is not just for Disney World, though it helps. With some of the biggest and best tourist attractions in the country, Orlando ranked #1 as the best city for recreation in America.
What’s In Orlando?
Disney World, for one. Universal Studios, Epcot Center, and countless other destinations were enough to put Orlando squarely in the number on spot. Las Vegas, Nevada unsurprisingly ranked second.
The criteria used by Wallethub relied on several factors. Among them, entertainment and recreational facilities, quality of parks, costs of recreation, and weather. Other cities at the top of the list were San Diego, Cincinnati, and Tampa.
Moving to Orlando?
If “fun” is in your DNA, then moving to Orlando might seem like the perfect idea. And it may very well be, but how would that move work for you? How will your cost of living change if you were to pick up and head to the Magic Kingdom?
Well, Florida is well-known as a tax haven state. That is, there is no state income tax. State sales tax is 6% with an additional 0.5% in Orlando. Orlando also ranks 193rd in our cost of living rankings, making it a relatively reasonable place to live.
Of course, the key word is “relatively.” How does your current city compare to the cost of living in Orlando? It may be the best city for recreation, but is it the best city for you? If you want to move, you want to know the financial impact.
